Are you ready for some FANTASY football?

Gentleman (and some of you ladies too), it is that time of year again.  The 2010 NFL season is right around the corner and fantasy football fanatics around the globe are dusting off their charts and graphs, hoping to put together the right combination of player that can deliver them the highly coveted title of Fantasy League Champion.

Hopefully McCluster can make some big plays during his rookie season!

While the  Kansas City Chiefs don’t have much offensive firepower, they have a couple sleepers that you might want to consider, just in case you’d like to add a little “home team” flavor to your roster.  Here is a short breakdown of the players on the team that might be able to help bring you a win…

QB, Matt Cassel – he’s a potential fantasy sleeper.  He threw 16 touchdowns for the Chiefs last season, however he needs to become more fundamentally sound.  Cassel missed a lot of open targets last year.  He’s a No. 2 fantasy QB now, but he should get better.  Maybe you can take him in the second round and cross your fingers.

WR, Dexter McCluster – the rookie wide receiver could pile up some stats this year, as he will line up at receiver, running back and see time at quarterback in the Wildcat.  He’s probably a No. 3 or 4 Fantasy wide receiver and worthy of  a mid-round pick.

Does anyone have any other good fantasy football info or tips to share?  I can’t wait for the season to start!

How many touchdowns will Matt Cassel throw this season?

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Draft Recap

Eric Berry was a GREAT pick!  He’s a playmaker that will help transform their defense.  After Berry, I’m no so sure though.  They made some good decisions in the late rounds with guys who could impact the offense, but taking Dexter McCluster and Javier Arenas (both in Round 2) are questionable.  Final Grade: B-.  Here are the first three picks…

Round 1, Pick # 5: Eric Berry, S, Tennessee

  • What he brings: At 211 pounds, Berry might not be big enough to play in the box regularly, but he is not afraid to fill hard and play the run. He’s a sound tackler who flashes the ability to deliver the big hit. The reason he was taken this high is his playmaking ability. He has outstanding range in zone coverage and can match up with slot receivers in man coverage, and he’s always looking to make plays on the ball regardless of what you ask him to do in coverage.

Round 2, Pick #4: Dexter McCluster, RB, Mississippi

  • What he brings: McCluster didn’t run as well as expected at the combine, but on film and at the Senior Bowl he looked explosive. He is an instinctive runner who reaches his top speed quickly and a reliable receiver who can produce after the catch.

Round 2 Pick #18: Javier Arenas, CB, Alabama

  • What he brings: Arenas doesn’t have the size or speed to develop into a starter on the outside. Still, he boasts the quickness and fluidity of an effective nickel back. There’s a lot to like about his willingness to play the run and ability to deliver the big hit. He’s also an effective return man with good vision and excellent balance.

The two teams have been decided for the Super Bowl on February 7. The Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints spent most of their season undefeated and proved to both fans and critics that they deserve to play in the Championship.

The Colts came back from an 11 point deficit against the Cinderella story of the New York Jets. The Jets put on quite a game for the Colts, but just couldn’t find that magical slipper. I am impressed though with Mark Sanchez and I wouldn’t be surprised if he led the Jets back to the playoffs next year. Colts won 30-17.

The New Orleans Saints had a little tougher time with the Minnesota Vikings. I really think the Vikings were the key to their own undoing because you can’t turn the football over five times and expect to come out ahead, especially when you are playing the Saints at home. I had to turn my TV down several times because of the crowd noise, so I can only imagine what they were dealing with on the field. The Saints won in overtime 31-28.
